Mystery of Christ
Part 1. In discussions with a Trinitarian, it is best and easiest to begin with the mystery of Christ, rather than find yourself interrupted and abandoned under the guise of the mystery of Christ. In most Oneness vs. Trinity discussions, according to my experience, many Trinitarians will claim utmost clarity to their faith when given the chance to witness, however, if not held accountable, will also abandon a discussion on the premise of claiming veiled understanding of the Godhead, using 1 Tim 3:16 -
By common confession, great is the mystery of godliness: He who was revealed in the flesh, Was vindicated in the Spirit, Seen by angels,
Proclaimed among the nations, Believed on in the world, Taken up in
glory.
Part 2. An additional facet we will discuss is the claim of limited Jewish understanding of the Trinity. By common knowledge, generally all Christians have to agree that Old Testament and Modern Judaism is a monotheistic faith in it's purest form, therefore the Trinitarian has to claim veiled understanding for the Old Testament Jew. They claim that since they didn't understand who Christ was, they missed the new revelation of the Trinity in the New Covenant, while in fact, they simply missed the scriptural prophecies of Christ's demeanor, influence, and two comings (not just one as they believe).
Part 1. The Mystery of Christ
The mystery of Christ truly is mysterious. In fact, Jesus rarely spoke clearly of this mystery in the first part of his ministry, yet still referred to his relationship with the Father in parable form.
Concerning the Parable of the Sower: Matt 13
"And the disciples came and said to Him, "Why do You speak to them in parables?" 11Jesus answered them, "To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted. 12"For whoever has, to him [more] shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him. 13"Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand."
We hire investigators to solve mysteries, likewise, we should solve spiritual mysteries. In fact, it's so important that understanding who Christ is is the first step to saving our souls.
John 8:24
"Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins."
John 16:25
"These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; an hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but will tell you plainly of the Father.
John 14
7“If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.”
8Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9Jesus said to him, “Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Part 2. Jews Missed the Trinity?
Trinitarians claim that the Jews didn't fully understand who God was in his plural nature. However, such a false claim would also have to recognize that Christ himself was also thoroughly confused when he told the Samaritan woman, "You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews." in John 4:22.
The Mystery Explained
The Jews missed the first coming and human nature of the Messiah. Trinitarians miss the omnipresent deity of Christ. Both have missed the true understanding of who Christ is... What gives?
Isaiah 9:6 prophecies of Christ:
For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
They both miss that Christ and the Father are both the great "I AM", the same LORD (Yhvh/Yahweh) of the Old Testament.
Case: I AM
Exodus 3 - God's name Lord, "Yhvh/Yahweh", and His memorial name, "I Am".
13Then Moses said to God, "Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel, and I will say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you.' Now they may say to me, 'What is His name?' What shall I say to them?" 14Godsaid to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM"; and He said, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, I AM has sent me to you.'" 15God, furthermore, said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, The LORD [Yhvh], the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.' This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations. 16"Go and gather the elders of Israel together and say to them, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, has appeared to me,
Understanding that italicized words in your Bible are added by the translators for reader's clarity, and realizing that the translators missed this connection, watch the power of Christ's words when he identifies himself as "I AM" in John 18.
"4 So Jesus, knowing all the things that were coming upon Him, went forth and said to them, “Whom do you seek?” 5 They answered Him, “Jesus the Nazarene.” He said to them, “I am [He].” And Judas also, who was betraying Him, was standing with them. 6 So when He said to them, “I am [He],” they drew back and fell to the ground. 7 Therefore He again asked them, “Whom do you seek?'"
Case: Yhvh/Yahweh is the only Savior
Romans 10:9 says that "if you confess with your mouth Jesus [as] Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;"
Jesus = translated means "Yahweh saves"
Lord = master
Isaiah 43
11"I, even I, am the LORD, And there is no savior besides Me.
LORD = Yhvh or Yahweh (proper name of the God of Israel)
